About the Role:
As a Game Sound Designer, you will be responsible for crafting immersive auditory experiences that enhance gameplay. You will collaborate closely with the development team to create original soundtracks, sound effects, and audio environments that align with the game’s vision. Your expertise in music composition, sound engineering, and game audio will be crucial in delivering a captivating and unforgettable audio experience for players.
Responsibilities:
● Create the complete soundtrack for games, including music and sound effects such as gunshots, footsteps, crashes, cheers, and ambient sounds like heavy rain.
● Enhance gameplay by adding mood, tempo, and emotional depth through sound design.
● Collaborate on game development from the early stages, working from briefs to design the auditory experience for players, or join later to integrate sounds into existing animations.
● Develop a library of sound effects, working with composers, actors, or recording original sounds.
● Edit, mix, and master audio elements to produce the final game soundtrack.
● Test audio elements within the game engine to ensure they function as intended.
● Perform additional tasks as assigned by line manager.
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience.
● Proficiency in composing and performing music.
● Expertise in sound engineering, including recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
● Strong understanding of gameplay and platforms, with the ability to conceptualize games, manage timing, and use audio to enhance and drive gameplay.
● Familiarity with game engines and the technical constraints related to integrating sound files.
● Excellent communication skills for collaborating with game designers, audio artists, and QA technicians.
● Proficiency in sound software such as Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Sound Forge, and Cool Edit Pro.
● Experience with game engines like Unreal and Unity.
